Dr. Aarathi Cholkeri-Singh is in private practice with Dr. Charles E. Miller at The Advanced Gynecologic Surgery Institute in the metropolitan Chicago area. She surgically trained with Dr. Charles E. Miller for four years during her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. During her fourth year of residency, she was accepted as a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgical Fellow through the AAGL, the world’s largest organization dedicated to minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Her training was based on the East Coast at Harvard and Brown Universities' hospital affiliates. She trained with six different surgeons in the fields of General Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Gynecologic Oncology and Urogynecology.
During Dr. Cholkeri-Singh's career as a resident and fellow, she has proven to be an effective leader, educator and contributor to the community and academic societies. As a resident, she began a research project evaluating the role of C-reactive protein with the placement of emergent cerclages for cervical incompetence during first and second trimester pregnancies. Her research was presented at the national meeting for the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine in 2006 and again at the Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologistsin 2009 as a Community Hospital Award winner with her research team. Also during her residency, Dr. Cholkeri-Singh wrote two manuscripts that were published in well-recognized, peer-reviewed medical journals. The article titled, "Spontaneous Heterotopic Triplets: A Case Report" was published in Fertility and Sterility 2007. The other article, titled, "Laparoscopic Ureteral Injury and Repair: case reviews and clinical update" was published in the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology in 2007. She has contributed three book chapters, titled "Resection of the Uterine Septum", "Basic Principles of Operative Hysteroscopy" and "The Role of Hysteroscopy in Abnormal Uterine Bleeding", to two different medical textbooks published between 2007 and 2008.
Dr. Cholkeri-Singh is an active member of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, as well as the AAGL. She has served as a faculty member for these societies, their conferences and committees, and continues to be invited annually for active lecturing and lab participation. As of June 2008, Dr. Cholkeri-Singh has been appointed as the Associate Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. She continues to be an ad hoc reviewer for The Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology (JMIG).
Dr. Cholkeri-Singh’s current research concerns are laparoscopic myomectomy, adhesion prevention at time of laparoscopic surgery and enhancing visualization at laparoscopy.
